Have you ever experienced feelings of fear when you saw a black man? Or do you have that feeling now? In my life, too, there was such a period of “hate black people”. But after watching one powerful film to my mind, my point of view completely changed, without leaving behind the previous feelings. It is called the “Green Book.”
This film was filmed in 2018, directed by Peter Farrell. By genre, it refers to a biographical drama and includes some elements of comedy. It is based on the real history of an African American pianist Don and Italian-American Tony who worked as a bouncer.
As we mentioned above, the main theme is racial discrimination, ruling in the southern United States.
Following the plot, Tony disliked African-Americans get a job as a driver of a black musician Shirley due to lack of money. And that employer intends to go on a tour of the nearest locality, taking the Green Book guide. And here comes the movie title factor.
This book was intended for African American travelers, to find and visit places in which they will be safe. After all, Shirley lives in a society where any racist can simply beat, kill blacks or refuse to serve, despite his talent or status.
In the film, the scenes on the road were full of changing emotions and quarrels, making it possible to understand all key thoughts, and helped to reveal the black person’s restrained identity to the racist driver. And the moments in the scenes were so strong that they could not leave indifferent any spectator after watching this miracle. This is how the “Green Book” is a good illustration and the best morality.
